Panama Road School

Design and build installation of a two-teaching spaces and a bathroom block at Panama Road School.

The proposed location sat within an overland flow path resulting in a flood report, this need was identified early in the design process so the report could be commissioned while all other design documentation was produced. The location also clashed with the existing bike path and rugby posts. The bike path was an important structure for the school and as such this was reinstated prior to any other works being undertaken to minimize the impact on the school’s use of it.

The site was complexed by basalt rock very close to the surface, making all excavation trickier. Regardless the Q team made quick work of the foundations and one early morning in early August the buildings were hi-abed onto their piles. Construction of the decks and canopies followed quickly after. All services including data, security, fire & power were trenched from the neighboring classroom block.
