Tony has been part of the construction industry for over 25 years. After completing a Bachelor of Construction Management and a Management Cadetship with Mainzeal Property and Construction, he progressed through a variety of roles within the industry. Tony then spent 2 years working in the UK as a design manager, returning to New Zealand in 2003 and helping to establish Q Commercial Construction. His construction experience includes power stations, high rise hotels, apartments, coldstores, industrial food processing lines, hospitals, prisons, school swimming pools, high end residential and office fitouts.

Brendan has been in the construction industry for over 25 years. After completing a Bachelor of Quantity Surveying, he spent time learning the ropes with his builder father. A cadetship with Rider Hunt and Mainzeal Construction saw him working on a number of projects including: the Sky City Casino and Sky Tower, BellSouth then Vodafone’s nationwide cellular network rollout, shopping complexes, heavy industrial warehousing and commercial buildings.

Brendan also worked in London for 8 years on high profile projects, including the refurbishment of the House of Commons, Big Ben Tower, and a £200 million high-end apartment complex on the River Thames.

Director
Grant runs the Interiors and Maintenance divisions of Q. He has worked in the construction industry for 17 years, with over 15 years spent specialising in commercial alterations and refurbishments. Grant has completed numerous projects throughout Auckland and overseas and brings a calm and considered approach to projects that clients find refreshing. His focus is on ensuring projects are run well with great communication to all stakeholders, along with quick and efficient resolution of issues as they arise. This ensures clients and consultants feel comfortable coming back to Q with repeat business, knowing we will deliver results.

Mark Miedema
Director
Mark has over 25 years experience in building and civil engineering projects in South Africa, Singapore, Samoa and New Zealand. He has worked extensively as a Site Manager and Project Manager and more recently as a General Manager and Director. Mark has joined the Q team to lead our expansion into the Bay of Plenty Region. He has lived and worked in the Bay of Plenty for the past 14 years and has an established a strong network of industry contacts from design professionals, project managers to specialist trade contractors. Mark’s strengths are his ability to work closely with a wide range of people, his attention to detail and his focus on delivering projects to the satisfaction of his clients.

With more than 40 years in the construction industry, John adds value to every project through this vast experience. His project history spans a diverse array of new builds and renovations across a wide range of sectors. He has worked on public sector education, early childhood projects along with community, health, entertainment and apartment developments. As Contracts Manager with Q Commercial Construction since 2014, John has demonstrated a deep understanding of the financial side of construction contracts, often using lateral thinking to find cost-effective solutions. John’s scheduled and random quality and health and safety audits and checks are thorough and a reflection of his unswerving commitment to safe building sites.

Project Manager
Shane is a trade qualified Project Manager with extensive experience in the construction of new builds and refurbishment. He likes to run a happy and smooth site where everyone understands what is expected of them and enjoys the process. Shane’s strengths are his construction knowledge, his problem-solving and his ability to get a project up and running smoothly while successfully orchestrating all the trades.
