Mission Heights Junior College - Extensions To Whanau Blocks 1 - 4

Mission Heights Junior College is a relatively new school which has grown quickly.

To accommodate additional students and make better use of space, Q Maintenance were engaged to carry out a series of two 4m x 6.5m extensions to each of the four buildings known as the ‘Whanau Blocks’.

This effectively meant undertaking 8 simultaneous building extensions around the school in different locations to add 208m2 of internal teaching space over an 8 week Christmas break period.

The challenge

Achieving the tight programme was very important for the school and this was something we delivered on.

The details

Work on each Whanau Block involved extending the external façade to reclaim an external space as new internal teaching space (before and after pictures below). Aluminium joinery was relocated and then interior refurbishment included new ceilings, lighting, power, data, sprinklers, carpet, Gib board linings, and painting; all to match existing interiors.
