Pitt Street & La Gonda Buildings Earthquake Works

Pitt Street & La Gonda Buildings Earthquake Works involved the seismic bracing of the existing parapets and replacement of the roof and gutters

In order to do this while the buildings remained occupied. The roof and top of the building were wrapped, and an extensive network of access stair cases, loading platforms and walkways were constructed to enable the removal of the existing roofs, installation of ceiling diaphragms and parapet support structures.

The details

New Structural elements were installed to support and brace the existing parapets, the extent of these new bracing structural elements meant new supports extended down to within the existing tenancies on level 1

New gutters were then constructed along with undertaking significant repair works to the existing brick structure, including repointing, epoxy injection of cracks, plastering and rendering where required (All under the supervision of the Heritage Architect).

New Stainless Steel lined gutters were installed, New roofs laid on new roof structures and new lead work to complete all flashings between the existing building and new roof and gutters.

The Project was difficult from an access point of view along with an existing conditions point of view. The priced plans were significantly different from the actual building onsite.

Q Worked with the Client, Consultants and Tenants to ensure the project was completed with as little disruption as possible and to a high level of finish.
